FAQs
Is Diversified Auto Corp. a licensed dealer in the state of Minnesota?
Yes, we are. Minnesota State law requires that anyone selling more than 6 cars per year has to have a Dealer License. You must be a licensed dealer to attend the auto auctions nationwide also.
Who will handle the title for the vehicle, getting the plates etc?
We take care of all the paperwork for Minnesota residents so you don't waste time in line at the DMV. Minnesota State law requires this. If you reside outside Minnesota you would have to handle the paperwork at your local instate DMV.
Can buying a used vehicle really be done properly by letting a third party choose a vehicle for me?
Absolutely. With my background in Chrysler Engineering and with all the time I've spent in the Automobile Industry, you have a very knowledgeable friend shopping on your behalf, weeding through the undesirable vehicles, you know the ones that have an accident history or have been smoked in or abused in some other way, then after its been fully serviced and safety inspected, your dream pre-driven vehicle is delivered right to your home or place of employment.
But what if I don't like the vehicle?
Great care is taken in the initial stages to make sure we are shopping for the perfect vehicle for you. By listening carefully and providing advice there should be no reason why an incorrect vehicle might have been purchased. However we cannot force someone to buy a vehicle they don't want and that of course would never happen. We don't ask for money down up front like many places do because we believe that its a 2 way transaction, we have to trust our customer that if we get the perfect vehicle and that there is nothing wrong with it in any respect that then we have a deal. The customer trusts us to come up with that perfect vehicle at the price agreed on and the condition agreed on.
Do you arrange financing?
Currently we do not. However we do work with all banks and Credit Unions..This involves working with your loan officer, faxing purchase agreements to them to speed up the loan process. Loan's go more smoothly when the banker knows which company they are dealing with and the history that company has with the bank's other customers. We recommend Topline Federal Credit Union for lowest rates in the metro area and because of their outstanding customer service. In 2003 over 30 of our clients arranged loans through Topline.
Why don't you accept trade-in's?
We operate on a tight profit margin. Trade-in's always need mechanical repairs (that's why you are ditching it usually, right?) We would have to inflate our prices to cover any expenses associated with either getting it ready for resale or disposing of it at the auction. Arguments always develop over value, etc., and this spoils an otherwise pleasant, calm vehicle buying experience!
Will you take clients to the Auto Auction?
No. There are several reasons for saying no! Every Wednesday there are over 4000 cars, trucks and vans at Minneapolis Auto Auction. We run into the "kid in the candy store" syndrome where people see that many cars and go "gaga." People loose focus in those circumstances and mistakes are made. Auction policy is no retail customer's are allowed in, however some dealers bring their customers in anyway. Two things can happen, the dealer can loose his auction privileges. The other problem is with retail customers present at the auction block even though they can't bid, can throw prices off for everyone. Auction fever set's in where 2 or 3 people get in a war over a vehicle and pay too much. Then the fleet/lease company thinks their vehicles are worth more because of it and then many vehicles are run through unsold and everyone's time is wasted.
Can I have my mechanic inspect the vehicle too?
A resounding YES!!! We are proud of the condition we present vehicles for sale. However you must take the vehicle over to his place of business and pay any bill they might present to you.
What is Carfax?
Carfax is an Internet company with access to database's maintained by Auto Manufacturer's, Insurance CO's, Police, Fire Depts' and auto auctions all across the country and Canada. While no system is perfect there is little chance of any major damage happening to a vehicle without it being documented somewhere along the line and then reported to Carfax
What if any warranty comes with the Vehicle?
Depending on the year and manufacturer some vehicles may have remaining factory warranty. This is fully transferable at no charge during the basic warranty stage, usually 3years and 36,000 miles, Chrysler Dodge and Jeep Powertrain warranties have a transfer fee of $150 and must be done within 30 days of purchase at the Chrysler Dodge or Jeep dealer . Otherwise the Federal Govt. requires all used vehicles with less that 70,000 miles and newer than 5 years be sold with a written 30 day, 1000 mile driveline or powertrain warranty. We also have some budget priced extended service plans available but with the increasing reliability of today's newer vehicles we don't often recommend that you purchase an extended service plan. |
